Red Hat reported after the markets closed Tuesday that revenue for the quarter that ended February 29 increased 17 percent to $544 million compared with a year ago. Subscription revenue hit $480 million (£338m), up 18 percent year-over-year, accounting for around 88 percent of Red Hat’s total revenue....

A tool named Twittor has been developed by Paul Amar, a British security researcher that uses Twitter private messages (DMs) to power botnets. A simple Python script, Twittor leverages the service’s option and Twitter API to allow anybody message users. Hackers can create a Twitter account, set up a Twitter app, and obtain API credentials that they can feed into a Python script with the help of Twittor. This script can then be utilized to allow botnets to send out instructions to botnet slaves, or to send PMs to a main Twitter account....

The advisory came after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommended last Friday that consumers stop using the smartphone and major airlines globally banned use during flights. This device resembles a USB stick and can be purchased from the internet sites for as low as £49.
