In February, Commodore 64 fans were teased with the possibility of a Commodore smartphone when concept renders surfaced online. Well, now they can get the real deal with the Commodore PET when it launches this week. The soon-to-be-released Commodore PET smartphone runs a custom version of Android 5.0 Lollipop and lets you play both old Amiga and Commodore 64 games with its preinstalled VICE C64 and Uae4All2-SDL Amiga emulators. It will feature a 1.7 GHz Mediatek 64-bit octa-core processor along with ARM Mali T760 GPU, 3000 mAh battery The device sports the C= logo on its case and a 5.5-inch IPS 1920×1080 pixel resolution Gorilla Glass 3 display. It comes with 16GB and 32GB of expandable memory (up to 64GB). It will also sport a 13-megapixel camera along with a 8-megapixel front camera and will have a dual-SIM 4G connectivity. The PET is slated to be launched this week in France, Italy, Germany, and Poland in two models: a 16GB/2GB ram model at $300 and a 32GB/GB ram model at around $365. The company has plans to release Commodore PET in North America and more European regions in the future. A popular gaming platform of its time, the Commodore 64 was first released in 1982 with games like Skyfox, Archon, Karate Master, Koronis Rift, Radar Rat Race, and Choplifter. Launched 30 years after its initial debut, a new Commodore 64 is available in five different configurations, ranging from $250 to $895.
